When I was a kid my dad played The Gambler by Kenny Rogers all the time. I didn’t think much of it then and honestly, I didn’t even like it. As I grew older the song stuck with me. Its story, its lesson and the quiet wisdom behind it became clearer. Without ever sitting me down to explain, my dad taught me something valuable through that song.

The Gambler is about those lessons we don’t realize we’re learning until years later. It’s about the risks we take, the wisdom we gather along the way and the moments that shape us, often in ways we don’t see until long after. I didn’t know it at the time, but my father passed something down through that song. And maybe one day, without meaning to, I’ll do the same for my son.
